I've just upgraded to iTunes 6.02. In previous versions, iTunes would often import longer tracks with incorrect track lengths. No big deal, as iTunes would play the entire track, and the time remaining indicator would simply stay at 0:00 until the track finished playing. The track time in iTunes has always been kinda flaky, but the tracks always played fine. In one example, a track has an actual length of 17:45. iTunes imported it as having a length of 17:28. QuickTime still plays the file normally, but also shows the incorrect length. This new iTunes simply cuts the tracks off abruptlly at the incorrect endtime of 17:28. Most of the tracks affected are custom mixes, and not simply ripped from a commercial CD. It would be a major pain to try and find all the original AIFF files to re-rip. I would prefer not to convert them back to AIFF and re-import, as the quality of the audio could degrade slightly in the process.
Anyone know of a way to correct the track lengths and or get them to play all the way through? Seems as if the track time is embedded in the file itself. Is it possible to use some utility to open the file and edit the end time directly within the file? Or some other work-around?
