I've herad that there is a text format config file that is checked
during installation that dictates whether that particular system is
allowed or not. Does anyone know what that file is and where it is
located? It would seem to me that if you copied the install CD over to
a directory on your hard drive, added your computer into that file and
re-wrote the CD with that information then it should install. Any idea
on this??

There was lots of debate about this at the time Tiger came out - Apple
said "firewire required" but also listed slot-loaders in general among
the supported machines, leaving the question, "what about the 350 MHz
slot-loaders?" (the only slot-loader with no firewire).
Sounds like Peg just answered that question.
