Re: 17'' G4 Flat-Panel 1.25-GHz iMac, OS 10.4
Upgrading my hard drive and Apple-slot memory soon, and thinking of
replacing the Super Drive, too, as the current Sony (DW-U10A) is making
a lot of extraneous swishing/swacking/clicking noise on disc insert or
even just when the computer wakes up. Is that much noise normal for
this component? (The Pioneer in my other G4 iMac is MUCH quieter.)
Any recommendations for a suitable replacement? I like that the Sony
does both DVD+ and DVD-R/RW.
I'm also considering replacing the fan, as I know it's easily
accessible when the hard drive is out, and I've read of super-quiet
ones that are available (I can only find black, but that's OK). Any
recommendations on good, suitable brands or models of really quiet
replacement fans?
