I have a Graphite iMac G3 running OS 10.4. Whenever I go to Startup Disk and choose the OS 9.2.2 to boot from, it doesn't work. At reboot I just get the ? folder. It's like it knows that OS 9 is there, but it doesn't boot. At this point I can't do anything. I try resetting PRAM (about 5 or 6 times) and no change. The only way to get this Mac to boot after that is to connect my USB drive that has a backup drive on it. I reboot, holding down the Option key and it shows me the OS 9 system folder. I reboot to the OS 9 (from the backup drive). Once it has successfully loaded, I go to Startup Disk and choose the iMac's OS X and reboot. Then I'm back in business. If I didn't have this backup, I'd be dead in the water. Any suggestions? By the way, Class OS 9 works fine from within OS X, so I don't think it's the OS 9 installation.
