I didn't see any user-specific Network Preferences (just Diagnostics and Utility) but in Keychain, I deleted the pop-server item and, when I finally remembered the password, her iMac was instantly rejoined to our network. I don't really know enough about such preferences, but I know your suggestion worked and my wife is happy!
