Jonathan,

For movies in any format to show up in Front Row, just place them in
your Movies folder.

For iTunes, though, they must be in an iTunes compatible format
(.mp4, .mkv, perhaps others). Just go "File/Add to library" or right-
click on them and choose iTunes to play them --they will be
automatically added to your library by default before they start
playing.

I'm not to keen on FrontRow, iTunes, or QuickTime to play movies, and
use VLC instead.
