To make a long story short, I've a drive that crashed due to a corrupt master boot record. I sold the win pc and tried to recover data using TestDisk and PhotoRec. Haven't used Tech Tool Pro in a long time - don't remember if there are any recover routines there. Heard of DiskWarrior and Data Rescue. Any good free apps that recover fast? PhotoRec will recover most types of user files but is very slow. It sees my 500 GB drive as a 2 TB disk with over 4.25 billion sectors - about 42 days of recovery. Maybe it will finish and actually complete in a quarter of the time - only 10.25 days! Might just go ahead and let Disk Utility ready this one as a backup external or another boot drive. Any suggestions or comments?
