Is there a brand that is particularly more Mac-friendly and iOS- friendly than the others?

iOS' requirement is that the printer support AirPrint. My reaction to that pffffft - yet-another Apple Tax.

Find a printer you like. Then install Printopia on your Mac.

We need to replace an old printer. In past years, we have used Canon, Epson, and HP and I know things have changed. Now, I want to look at several brands for both photo and text work: Canon, HP, Epson, and Brother. I want to avoid something that is too PC-oriented.

How much printing do you do?

I've been rather impressed by the quality of this year's color laser printers. Yea, they cost more up front. But the per-page cost is far lower than inkjets.
