[Image-SIG] Down-sampling: ANTIALIAS implementation details?

Hi 

Does anyone know what sort of averaging happens when down-sampling an iamge 
with <img>.thumbnail(<newsize>, Image.ANTIALIAS). Is it a Gaussian average of 
ot a block average?
