is it fairly easy to add code to the Killer Templates?
 
I'm assuming I would need to re-do all of my changes each time a new version of the Killer Templates comes out?

You're going to need a more full-featured banner solution for that. Take a look at AdMentum at http://www.aspcode.com, for example.

I am using the Killer Web Templates and am very happy with them
 
I have the banners set up successfully and they rotate around as planned
 
My question is this....
 
can I target ads?
 
I would like to "look up" a field (Stored in the external database)
 
based on this field, say 1,2 or 3 I would like to display specific ads to the users
 
I can get the values into the external database with no trouble
 
I just need to know if the Killer Templates can be modified in some way to display differing ads
