Okay, I've got 1.6 installed and "fixed", but I still have the problem that
when you attached a file, the "Add all recipients to address book" gets
checked. Was that supposed to have been fixed in 1.6?

Yes, it is/was. Upgrade to Classic v1.6 (http://hksi.net/downloads/) for the
fix.
