Curtis,

We spent a significant amount of time exploring the potential ways to do
this, and came up with our You've Got IMail! product that integrates nicely
with KillerWebMail to display the new message count. It runs on ASP, and
does a "backdoor" login to check the count before returning it to the site.
Very fast, very slick. Put it wherever you want on your regular site (plain
html pages work fine) with just one line of code. See the demo at
http://hksi.net/youvegotimail.htm.

I don't believe you'll find a file that will give you the answer on the
server. We explored that route, and also the POP3 and IMAP4 routes, to no
avail.
