I ran convert many times trying to fix the issue of IMAP choking
(including on the recommended first run after install). I stopped
all services while running the convert utility as well to prevent
any competition for files. Regardless, IMAP crashed repeatedly for
the first four days of use. I suspect that convert may have done
something that caused the issues.
Try deleting the .uid/.srt files[0], and then try opening it via
Web Messenger. Then go get a cup of coffee while logging in....
Although the 7.03 web engine is faster, I still suspect anytime
you delete the .uids it takes a while for the system to rebuild
them.
Also, you should probably also delete your client's local IMAP
store or even the whole personality, and rebuild it from scratch
to be safe as well.
Barring all else, move the old mail into a backup account, and try
only accessing it with webmail. Eventually this problem went away
for us, but it was a painful week. I am still keeping all my old
mail in an archive account, but did finally get a whole local copy
and can now access it with either IMAP or web interface and no
crashes. It was time to archive stuff anyway....

[0] Better yet, make a backup copy, then stop services, and move
all .mbx and any related folders back into your live directory.
It's probably safe to also move rules.ima and the addressbook at
this point too.
