I'm running BlackICE Defender Firewall 2.5co Server Version on two
Windows 2000 Servers. This product did/has done a stellar job of
defending against the Code Rode worm -- even before I had gotten the
necessary IIS 5 patches installed. Likewise, it has completely warded
off the Nimda worm, and these servers' performance has been remarkably
stable. I'm not professing to be an authority on firewalls and/or
security by any stretch of the imagination -- on the contrary. In fact,
(no offense intended by any means) I'm puzzled as to why so many
administrators don't have adequate defenses in place. And why are their
severs still not patched -- especially in the wake of Code Red?

I'm sorry for straying off the already off-topic topic, but I see so
many people working so hard to deal with these issues and I'm wondering
why a novice admin, like myself, is not having to deal with all these
complications. Again, my intentions are innocent and I certainly don't
mean to offend anyone. I'm simply looking to understand. Thanks for
your feedback.

Archer
