I think you need to make the entry:

http://www.psc.ac.uk/kwmimages

and then make sure that IIS has a virtual web site called kwmimages.

With your current entry, IMail is probably prepending the http://mail/
because it doesn't know to use http.

A second small problem we've got is relocating the images on an IIS
server as recommended in the readme. When I change the location from
KWMImages/ to, say, www.psc.ac.uk/KWMImages it doesn't pick up the
correct location as a mail/ is inserted at the beginning of the path as
in http://mail/www.psc.ac.uk/KWMImages/imge.gif
