With a mail server installed on the same machine, I could not force Webmail to deliver local mail through the virus checking program. Smtpd just ldelivered them to the local mailboxes, ignoring the settings to forward mail. Called Ipswitch, and got a "that's a good idea, but you'll never live to see it" when I suggested that webmail forward local mail per the SMTP Settings tab. I think that SMTPd is fundamentally split into two programs. One that you can interface with dealing with mail coming from domains exterior of the mailserver, and one that you have little to no control over dealing with mail from internal to anywhere else. I'd love to have a bit more control over the second half, but I'd love a lot of things. I guess knowing your faults helps plan around them, eh? Your best bet would be to install a mail scanner on your local mail machine's port 25, move Imail's SMTP ports to 2525 or somesuch, and set up forwarding from the virus checking program to Imail. That way, your SMTP clients (outlook express, netscape, eudora, etc) can benifit from the port 25 checking for both local and external mail deliveries. This does tend to devour spare cpu time though, so be sure you can handle it. The only hole in your net would be webmail users sending local mail to your imail domain(s). Never tried scanning the spool directory with a normal virus checker, but I don't think it would be able to script a response message to the offending sender / and recipient. Hope this helps, John. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, October 29, 2001 1:49 PM Subject: RE: [imail] Outgoing virus from Webmail > true. if their custom http server parsed the form and then composed > and posted the message to port 25 then i suppose our problem would be > solved. > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of > Fernando Simoes > Sent: Monday, October 29, 2001 10:48 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: RE: [imail] Outgoing virus from Webmail > > > > Declude doesn't detect outgoing virus from webmail.
