Check to see if you have "Auto-deny possible hack attempts" checked.
iMail can "sense" a server trying to make too many connections and then
permanently bans the IP address, until re-boot/restart SMTP.

Has anyone encountered IMail blocking specific IP addresses from SMTP?  They are not IP addresses that were added to SMTP security to be blocked.  These same IP addresses can telnet to port 25 on another mail server, simply not the IMail server.  If the system is reassigned a different IP address, then the user can send mail.  If the blocked IP address is assigned to any other system, then that system cannot send mail.  We are having to literally exlude these IP addresses from our DHCP pool so that noone else leases that IP.
