It can actually be a catch 22 situation, it's an all or nothing scenario with your users and smpt auth. The whole idea behind it is to stop people from using your server as a relay, so you check the "no mail relay " option in the smtp security tab. DO NOT check disable SMTP verify command if you are using a backup or mail gateway like we are... you must be using 7.0 etc... to use an external DB and smtp auth.
The catch is that once you set the "no mail relay" option, they won't be able to send or reply to mail unless they have "my server requires authentication checked" and conversly if you have the no mail relay option checked in imail and your end users don't have it checked off they won't be able to send either. Receiving mail is not affected by either of the circumstances. The way we did it we notified everyone we were going to do it and then did it, AND then waited for them to call us and say " why can't i send mail" and told them to check it off in outlook etc.. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Merrill" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, January 21, 2002 7:21 AM Subject: Re: [imail] smtp help > Okay, that sounds simple enough, but what do I configure in Imail?
