Have you considered writing a WebMail product that runs on a separate server (IIS) and connects to IMail through IMAP? I seems that this would offload the resource intensive nature of WebMail from the IMail server and make both products more reliable and faster. It also has the benifit of working with most major email servers (in addition to IMail) that support IMAP.
