As an ISP, we do 'store and forward' type mail deliveries for a few of our customers (some of which use exchange).
This is normally used as a backup spool in the event that the company's mail server becomes unreachable.

Search Ipswitch's Knowledgebase for help with ETRN.  I've not seen an exchange screen in ages (thankfully) but I believe you can setup exchange to initiate an ETRN spool search at regular intervals.  Doing it this way allows imail to operate as a MX backup or primary SMTP server.  The nicest part is that you do not run ANYTHING (web.mail/pop3/imap) for the exchange domain users.  No forwards to set, no aliases to change, no users to maintain.

Hope it helps,

John

Subject: [imail] iMail and Exchange with same domain

I have iMail and Exchange 5.5 running in the same location (all users have the same @domain.com but the Exchange box is actually corp.domain.com) and I want the iMail box to forward emails destined for the Exchange users.  Currently, I have to create an alias in iMail for each Exchange user that points the @domain.com to @corp.domain.com.  Is it possible to configure iMail to try the Exchange box instead of creating these aliases?
