You should think first about asymmetric multi-processing.  :))

but your idea is very cool, since it means off-loading from Imail to a *nix 
server.

But this idea isn't completely original since we discussed at length in the 
Imail list laster year the technicalities of having an central  "Imail 
webmail logon server" that would provide just the logon function, and then 
redirect the browser to the correct mailbox server in a set of peered Imail 
mailbox servers.  The users would not have to remember which peer webmail 
server held their mailbox, that would be known by the logon server.
