In the beginning I had my Imail server and database server separated by
a firewall, every so often the Imail server would lose its session to
the database and would not automatically reconnect, it required the
services to be restarted (POP was failing to authenticate too) I was on
6.06 at the time and know it went into 7.0x, I don't know if it is still
present in 7.1 or not, probably so. I solved my problem by putting the
database on the same segment as the Imail box. Also if the database was
taken offline for backups or restarted Imail had to be restarted too,
any of this sound relevant??

Subject: [imail] Login KillerWebMail + external Database

Hello,

we have installed IMail 7.1, Killer- and Classic WebMail (newest
version)
installed on w2k server. Only SSL connections allowed. The user database

is external: Sybase SQL Anywhere 8.0 (on a second machine, accessed via
ODBC).

It seems there is a problem with the database connection. The components

run well. But if we try to login after the system is not used for
several hours
(or a restart of IMail server and web messaging) we get: sorry, invalid
login,
try again. This second login is successful.

Has someone an idea how to solve this problem. We are no specialists in
databases;-)

Thanks in advance,
Roland
