I need some assistance from your admins out there about an issue
with the IMail server regarding deleting accounts via the Web
Based Admin section.

As you all know if you use the web-based administrator to delete
accounts, the user account is deleted but the users directory
and spool file will remain. To remove the users folder and spool
file you need to take the additional step of manually logging
into the IMail server either via telnet or console and issuing
the delete command (find orphans works too). IPSwitch has informed
me that the server was intentionally designed this way because
during the beta test an admin used the web based administrator
to delete an account and got in trouble because the user needed
to access some of the information that was deleted.

The ability to do a full delete from the web based administrator
worked at one time and IPSwitch took the path of hard coding
the software to leave the folder and spool file rather than making
it an OPTION that we admins could configure. I have been trying
to get someone at IPSwitch to add this in as an OPTION, in a
patch or something, but lack the real pulling power to get anything
done. So I turn to you in the list. John was generous enough
to tell us what will be in the 5.05 patch and also asked for
suggestions. I believe that if enough of us ask for a full web
based delete in 5.05 we can get it. We have all helped one another
time and again, and we represent a large active force in the
IMail server community. Over 100 of you have downloaded some
of my companies IMail Server components and could probably benefit
from having a full delete available in the web based admin section
just as we could.

Best Regards,

Christopher Duxler
