I know this is off-topic, but this problem did strike our IMail server...
Our IMail server is the same machine as our DNS server. This PC links
through a switch to a router, and out to the Internet. Earlier today, that
PC was suddenly blocked from the Internet. It could browse and ping fine on
our internal network, up to the gateway, but nothing beyond the gateway.
Meanwhile, people on the outside could ping our other PCs, but could not
reach this one machine (meaning no mail and no access to primary DNS server
for a bunch of web sites).
So what could block this one machine and no other? The problem appeared
suddenly, lasted for a couple of hours, and then disappeared without
explanation. I'm not sure what to look for or how to investigate it.
