I found same behavior with Outlook 97/98 and Outlook Express 4. Installed OE5 and it
worked.
Because most of the clients use web messaging this is nor problem to us.

We have recently setup Imail 5.05 using IMAP4 protocol and are using
Outlook98 for our client software. For some strange reason I can't get the
new message notification to work in Outlook98. I've checked display a
notification under email options and play a sound under Advanced Email
options but still no notification is ever given. If anyone has any
suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
