>Has anyone else had customers calling over the past few days with messages
about bounced outgoing email, or inability to receive some (but not all)
inbound mail? On another list, there have been rumors of Internic root
server delays and failures lately. Customers sending mail repeatedly to aol,
msn, hotmail, and getting DNS messages back that no such host exists.

I guess I haven't felt this problem being in the southern hemisphere,
but let me say something: one of the usual problems I see could be prevented
by properly adjusting DNS SOA records. When such outages happen, a lot of
"no such host" messages could be avoided if the domains were cached with
enough TTL (time to live) records, for instance.

Since e-mail and DNS are so related, I would advise everybody to buy a
good book on DNS and implement a better policy.
