In order to have a reverse DNS lookup for a certain ip address, do I have to
have that subnet of ips register as a FQDN.
For starters, you have to have reverse delegation from your upstream, yeah. Not always an automatic. That why, I think, the reverse lookup up gives BA and not you, BA has retained the delegation.
And, yeah, it's much more fun with reversed subnets, contiguous or not.
