Call me stupid, but web messaging has me perplexed.
I am finally getting around to messing with the default html templates. I
started out by simply adding a 'border="0"' parameter to a TABLE tag. I
reload the page, and every IMAIL tag on the page failed to display (buttons
AND text, some of which where should not have been effected by the simple
change I made). All I saw was the standard HTML tags and text. I removed the
border parameter, still nothing. Stop web messaging service, restart it,
nothing. Wait 5 minutes, finally everything is back.
Are there certain steps or procedures that need to occur after making
changes to the pages?
Next, where are the address book entries stored (assuming I'm using the
IMAIL database)? Please don't say the registry :-/
Lastly, some of the "group" tags that represent many IMAIL fields are very
restricting in terms of flexibility of programming. Obviously, Ipswitch has
designed these tags to make it as easy as possible to manipulate the _group_
fields on the page. But for many of us who wish to take the pages to the
next level, we cannot. For example, in menu.html, the tag
<IMAIL_MailboxSummary> displays mailbox name, unread/total messages, size of
box, etc. I cannot pick and choose (at least as far as I can tell) which
fields to display. Perhaps I don't want the size of the box displayed--
there doesn't appear to be a away to hide that field from being displayed.
As I said, I am just starting to play with web messaging, and perhaps there
ARE ways to accomplish these tasks that I am not aware of. If anyone cares
to shed some light on any of these points, please feel free. I know others
on the list are asking for a full API into the web messaging engine, but I'm
not even looking for something that deep. Has anyone duplicated _ALL_ of the
functionality of web messaging using ColdFusion or something similar?
It would be really nice if there were some tips or sample template
modifications on the Ipswitch web site. I'd be willing to set aside some
disk space if anyone wants to start putting up some samples for others to
share and learn from.
