ok here is one for you. IM5 is setup to accept from local addresses only
the name of the site is mail.server.com
the alias is onemail.server.com
the person had OE5 setup pointing to onemail.server.com, he was receiving :

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected
by the server. The rejected e-mail address was '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'. Subject '',
 Account: 'onemail.server.com', Server: onemail.server.com', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '550 not local host aol.com, not a gateway', Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

now he couldn't send any email to any host other than main one. now everyone
else can.
anyone can explain me why is it that just setting a different username
allowed him to send mail?
or even further, why is that when changing mail server name to
mail.server.com solved all his problems?
both names are setup in DNs to one ip, alias is setup in imail.
this is beyond understanding
