Daniel,
thanks for the info. Since Im dealing with customers NT-networks all day I know much
about IP and NT. But I did not realize I would have to be a DNS expert :-)) Best thing
is that I now have a good skill about how DNS works, how it should be set up and how
to check it.
Anyway, all I wanted to say is: maybe my mistake is worth to be put in KB. Mostly for
others finding theirselves in a similar situation. They surely would be happy to have
an info about what can happen if you do your install in "wrong" order. It did take a
long time to find that SMTP service used wrong IP-address or in other words it did not
use the address we intended it to use.
If I would have found the info about registry hack in KB while searching for mx
connect fail then I probably would have recognized my mistake much earlier.
Nevertheless I think IMail is a very good product.

Ruediger,
Glad to hear that your server is now delivering email. Sorry, I did
not see your issue a bit sooner, might have got you through it a bit
faster. Anyway here is some thing I have seen when changing IPs on NT4.
Check your winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file! NT is not so good
a entering the correct info or removing old info. If you need help
with its contents, I'm sure someone can help. Sample below:
127.0.0.1 localhost<CR>
xxx.x.x.x FQDN_of_machine<CR>
IMail V5.0 changed the way it handles IP addresses and will use that
of the assigned domain to deliver. If you have more than one NIC, it
is best if the one to the outside is the First NIC and the Second is
for internal network. Configure the Primary domain on the external
IP (fake IP if you have to). V5.03 introduced a registry hack to
allow operation like 4.0x version (check the Release Notes!).
