I've had some problems with spammers using my company's Imail v5.04 server, so I've begun to "lock down" email. I have one server in my DMZ (we're using a PIX firewall), which has mail relay set to "relay for local users". This server does in fact have users who access their email from the Internet, so I assumed that this was the best choice. All other mail received is to be forwarded (via a gateway), to an Imail v5.04 server on our internal network, which then forwards mail throughout our WAN organization. This server has out bound access to the internet, but no one can access it from the Internet. My problem boils down to this.....mail coming in for [EMAIL PROTECTED] works just fine. However, for reasons I won't go into, our internal network uses mail in this format and in the format [EMAIL PROTECTED] Some users (I have no control over who, or access to change their configuration), even send mail to the Internet in the [EMAIL PROTECTED] format. When replies come back in as [EMAIL PROTECTED], they are rejected due to the smtp relay option. I've added these hosts in the accept.txt file, and added them to the \winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file, but they're still getting rejected. All I want is to have mail relayed for local users, and for a limited specified list of hosts. The local user mail will get delivered locally, and the limited specified hosts will be forwarded onto the internal Imail server for further processing.
