Anyone looking for nostalgia, I still have an old Stromberg-Carlson
acoustic-coupler 300 baud modem. About the size and heft of a concrete
block, and runs on 110v. Last used in a lash-up from my deck to dial into
the University IBM system for (text-only, thank God) email using my wireless
phone to the indoors jack :-) Now the deck has a phone jack and
Ethernet.... and the modem is a doorstop (really) in the basement.

Ummm,

I happen to remember 300 Baud modems and using a teletype to enter a program
in the "mainframe" which would be run as a batch file later that night.

Roger :-)
