I now have 5.07 but Pegasus mail users gets the same error msg after they
have set the SMTP authentication in the software (see error msg below).
However, MS Outlook and Outlook express can use SMTP auth without any
problem. Any thoughts.
Fyi, the response I got from Pegasus mail support is:

What SMTP authentication problem? It doesn't do the non-standard
AUTH=LOGIN or AUTH LOGIN since there is no known RFC that covers
the process of performing this kind of authentication. If you
could point out an RFC that covers this process it probably would
be implemented.

Hi,
Yes, Imail supports cram-md5. Although earlier versions of Imail had
problems with it so make sure you are using 5.07.

Hi Eric,
You have not answered my question.
I asked the tech support of Pegasus and they replied with:
"Pegasus has implemented ESMTP AUTH CRAM-MD5 for WinPMail, Mercury and
Mercury/32. They do a SMTP authentication in accordance with RFCs 2554 and
2195."
Can Imail support this???

Hi,
By default, smtp authentication is turned on. If you want to shut it off
then go into control panel / imail server / smtp security and check the
option "disable smtp auth reporting". Then stop & start the smtp service.

Hi,
Some of our pc clients are using Pegasus mail v3.12a and it has the
capability for SMTP auth however, when they try sending to our IMAIL server,
these clients always recv a return msg saying
"Delivery has failed on the enclosed message for the following reasons
reported either by the mail delivery system on the mail relay host or by the
local TCP/IP transport module:
550 not local host ibm.net, not a gateway "
I asked the tech support of Pegasus and they replied with:
"Pegasus has implemented ESMTP AUTH CRAM-MD5 for WinPMail, Mercury and
Mercury/32. They do a SMTP authentication in accordance with RFCs 2554 and
2195."
