I apologize for my own testiness earlier.

There have been some good points made in this discussion about beta releases
and early releases of software, but generally, I think the Ipswitch folks
are far more responsive than some other software companies I've seen. At
least they acknowledge that sometimes there are problems with IMail
releases!

Re error 10054--this is a Winsock error. It's not clear from the
knowledgebase, but this article
http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19990701-DM02.htm suggests that when a
large attachment is going out, or the daemon is trying to reconcile two
simultaneous transactions on the same mailbox, it doesn't respond quickly
enough for the IMail monitor. The monitor then tries to restart the service,
which it thinks has shut down. This problem could also be generated by the
client, if two sessions are indeed open on the same machine trying to use
the same port. Try turning off the IMail monitor first, then adjusting the
client software in the direction of longer timeouts, etc. Then you're in
over my head--someone wiser than I will have to help you further.
