Title: Spamcop
I would not recommend that setup at all (delete with spamcop).  Spamcop currently has gmail servers listed.  Last week AOL and earthlink was listed.  Spamcop is notorious for listing big ISP's mail servers.  Don't get me wrong its a great test when used in a weighting system.

In regards to your issue do you have a front end gateway that sends mail to your server?  Could that be listed?

They are in the trusted list for immediate deletion.

After looking at the logs further I noticed that SpamCop reported every query from my mail server as listed.

Has anyone seen this before?  I have been looking at there newsgroups and there is mention of their service being down.

1st question. Why are you deleting based on one blacklist?

We had a problem and I was hoping that someone could shed some insight as to what may have caused the issue.

We had Spamcop set in the filters as a trusted list with automatic delete.  Yesterday at about 2am edt mail stopped getting delivered.  I checked the server from the outside and all looked fine.  Then I started looking at the logs.  Mail was being accepted as inbound then when the spam check was done, it would check Spamcop and fail to connect.  After the connection failed the mail was automatically deleted.  The strange part is that the spam check did not fail, only the connection to Spamcop did.

Why would mail be deleted when the connection to Spamcop failed?
