With SPAM mail being a ongoing issue, I had to deploy I-mail to not relay mail for anyone, and allow remote users ( all are remote users ) to send mail by requiring them to log into the SMTP server with the POP3 account info. I have been evaluating different mail clients for compatibility, and canot make either Eudora Light, or the latest Eudora, 4.3 to log into the SMTP server properly. Here is the only info I could find from Qualcomm: SMTP Authentication Document ID: 1637HQ Issue: My service provider has increased security to reduce SPAM and now I need to enter a username and password when sending mail. Does Eudora support this? Solution: Eudora 4.2 supports SMTP Authentication. We support the CRAM-MD5 encryption for SMTP Authentication. To turn this feature on in windows Eudora 4.2, add the following lines to the settings section of your eudora.ini file: SMTPAuthAllowed=1 SMTPAuthRequired=1 Note: Known issue in 4.2 - If your server supports multiple methods of authenticating, Eudora only checks the first one listed. If the first method supported is something other than CRAM-MD5, Eudora will not send the AUTH command even though the server may support this authentication method.
