I can't speak for Dell's offhand since I never had this issue with any of them. However, on an IBM box we had this issue and the raid container setup was also stored on the drives. IBM was able to walk us through extracting the config from the drives back to the controller and all was well.

Subject: [IMail Forum] OT: Lost containers

Running a Dell PowerEdge 4400 with RAID 5 on 6 disks.

One drive crashed. Got a new one in & replaced it, had it up and running.

Boss was curious as to how the lights on the storage bay worked.

Since its supposed to be hot swappable, he pulled it out, looked and put it back in.

I came in this morning and the configuration utility shows I have no containers.

Does anyone know of a utility I can run to recover the containers?
Any other options? Had customer information I really need to recover.
