In search of better looking web templates for v6.02, I've just finished
about 15 hours of modifications to a stock set. Whew, what a can of
worms. :)
My main goals were:
1) Get rid of as many ugly/unnecessary GIFs as possible (makes the pages
load faster, and lightens the load on the server... maybe this
contributes to the CPU load others have experience with high-volume
access to web messenging?)
2) Put width and height attributes on all the remaining GIFs (esp. the
little message status icons which make the list load jerky)
3) Use stylesheets and includes where possible to make the pages more
interactive and make further mods fast and simple.
4) Fix typos.
I'm not completely done, but I'd appreciate some feedback at this point.
So, if you have a few minutes to spare, go to http://mail.hksi.net and
login with username "demo" and pw "blue". The templates are optimized
for IEv4 or higher, but should look and work okay with Netscape, too (no
CSS rollover/onClick effects, however).
