Anyway, I agree with John, use a new message and a new subject (or at least add to Subject line!), if you start talking about a new topic!!

Common courtesy, I would think. And yes, I am probably guilty, but at least I try!

No, I would start another thread. There is no such thing as orphaned files or antispam or memory leak in regards to .tmp files in the spool directory when related to a program alias as clearly asked about by the original poster.

You are doing yourself and everyone else a disfavor by talking about a problem that has nothing to do with the question/post you are replying too.

Start a new thread with an appropriate subject line for your benefit and for the benefit of all.

Do you mean the tmp file thing or the memory leak?

I realized, that a program alias leaves a tmp file.

I discovered that the tmp file will be created at the time the batch was called. So it's not a problem to kill the file.

Regarding the "memory leak": We're monitoring the amount of memory smtp service and queue manager is using.

This is a good indication for the "stress level" the mail server is running.

Sometimes the smtp service crashes for no reason. After restarting both services, the mail server looks afterwards more healthier.

It's also important to know, that the smtp service and the queue manager must be treated as "twins".

If one service is suffering from something, sooner or later the other one will be sick too. This reminds me really to the twin kids from a friend of mine ;-)

This is my reason to restart both services periodically, usually every 6 hours.

btw, i'm talking about version 8.22. I know that the queue manager is much more robust in version 2006.x

files follow the naming scheme tmp***.tmp where *** is a three digit
hex number. All files are 2KB in size. Checking the content of the

announcement that comes in several times a day. The mails are
received correctly and trigger the related CMD file so my
MailSniffer updates do work. But IMail leaves such a spool file
