Perahps the Gmail mail does not go through.  Their retry time is very long.  I usually dont get bounces for at least a half day.  How many times does Imail try before it gives up?

I agree with you but am just trying to explain this to someone that has success using a free service and failure using ours.

Your are having troubles...........

I show I can email them either - about 1 in 100 get through...................

www.dnsreport.com shows they are having troubles..............

I don't know what else to tell you except to call worldnet.  I tried to get you some info there but www.worldnet.att.net web page comes back with a error and timed out!  But I am sure those people at Google get the page right away.........

here's a quote:

I think you have to ask the question – "Why can I send an email from my gmail account and one from my own mail server account at exactly the same time and the gmail email goes through (every time) and my server mail is rejected (every time)?"

It will be a hit and miss with a 450 error.

DNSReport shows problems on their end as well

well, they can send from their Gmail account so it's tough to argue.

Since those are the only two MX record listed and both return the same erorr code (450 means they are overwhelmed or have internal problems), there isn't much you can do except wait.

Telneting to port 25 on each server from here, resulted in the same type of problem - bot just you.

We can't seem to be able to deliver email to worldnet.att.net and I can't understand why. Our logs show that their server is too busy to accept but it seems to always say this and we've got customers complainging. Is there anything we can do?
