Thank you for your remark, Jason. Naturally, that was done. However, the concern for everyone should be the likelihood of this type of attack becoming increasingly common. It's certainly not feasible for most of us to be hovering over the POP3 service 24/7 to make sure it isn't being attacked -- only to then react by blocking the offending IP with our firewall. And God help us if attacks like this start launching from random IP's. We urgently need an automated defense mechanism. Ipswitch built in one for the SMTP service, but it seems that the POP3 service was neglected.
