I second that opinion. Alligate blocks an average of 92% of all connections that would otherwise go to IMail, and it does this with 100% accuracy unless you come across a rare sender that has a non-compliant mailer (or you configure it too strictly). It does this by passively blocking connections, i.e. tarpitting and greylisting, however both techniques are modified from standard implementations so as to be both more effective and more accurate. For instance, it will only greylist suspicious hosts instead of all hosts, but that's just one small part of it.

Zombies will only very rarely get past Alligate, and it is pretty effective at blocking viruses without needing to scan them. It is also effective at blocking static spammers that don't tolerate tarpitting or greylisting (which is only a smaller percentage of them). All of this without sending back any 5xx errors outside of bad addresses.

YMMV of course. It is best to get guidance from others about how to best set it up. You can set it up more strictly (commonly) and achieve slightly higher rates of blocking, but FP's would increase.

Alligate by far... wicked effective. [obviously this is a personal opinion!]

Hoping someone will be willing to share but they feel is the best and easiest gateway product to place in front of my Imail server. I am looking to reduce the amount of work that the mail server has to do.

Just for your time,
