Hi

Using 2006.1 Imail

I may be using the wrong lingo, if so I apologize. Here's what I'm trying
to accomplish. I want to be able to filter in Imail based upon the IP that
was used to reach it.

We have three message streams. Normal (outsiders come in via a Mail
Protector Gateway) -- this is our published MX, Special (we send out lots of
mail to members, we use a subdomain member.igive.com and publish a different
MX for this. Bounces and member communication hopefully go to this MX), and
lastly, Internal (mail from an iGive person to another iGive person).

Our problem. Mailprotector does a fine job (it's basically a third party
operated Declude gateway) at catching spam and virus from normal
communications. We can't use it to screen our bounce e-mail traffic because
they charge on a per mailbox basis, and we use VERP
([EMAIL PROTECTED]) to help track / route bounce e-mail
messages). They would have to charge us for hundreds of thousands of
mailboxes. We actually only have twenty or thirty addresses. Therefore,
the subdomain. That subdomain does NOT have anything proection in front of
it. We have to rely on the built-in antispam facility of Imail.

Right now, if we tighten down the Imail anti spam, iGive to iGive
communications seem to trigger the anti spam settings.

If there is a way to use three different Ips, and have which IP / Host Name
received the e-mail appear in the header of the received mail, we can use
filtering to make sure mail is delivered correctly.

If not, I'm thinking we'll need to run our own gateway / solution of some
sort (possibly Declude again, we enjoyed it, but it was overkill for just 30
e-mail address).

Any thoughts appreciated.

Rob
