Hi Kevin, I think, #1 should addressed also to Imail 2006.2, it really important. An IUSR account must never have administrative privileges. It's against all rules and against all recommondations from microsoft. An Imail server would never pass a security audit.

Bye for now, kg -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bruce Barnes Sent: Monday, November 27, 2006 17:40 To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Re: [IMail Forum] IMail 2006.2 Technical Preview Program Ipswitch; I have a couple of issues I hope were addressed in the next version: 1. The SECURITY ISSUE. NO IIS account should ever have administrative privileges - period. If this version of the software is going to continue to require the IUSR account to have administrative privileges, then the conversation of our client base is a flat out NO GO - NO WAY for us as it leaves a gaping security hole at the point of the web server. ALL IUSR ACCOUNTS SHOULD BE READ ONLY PRIVLIDGES ONLY - NOTHING ELSE! 2. Along the lines of an "ADD IT BACK IN" request is the ability to CONVERT ALL INCOMING MAIL TO PLAIN TEXT. It was in 8.2 and should be included in 2006 as well. We work with medical clients and they have now forbidden the receipt or sending of HTML based e-mail to and from their centers. NO HTML MESSAGES FOR ANY USERS! 3. Concurrently, we should be able to FORCE the web based users to be able to only send in PLAIN TEXT as well. When combined with #2 above, it means NO HTML MESSAGES FOR ANY USERS, whether incoming or outgoing - no exceptions! 4. Along those same lines, it would be nice to be able to restrict LISTS to PLAIN TEXT ONLY as well. Thanks in advance, Bruce Barnes ChicagoNetTech ________________________________ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Stephane Moskovic Sent: Monday, November 27, 2006 16:09 To: [email protected] Subject: [IMail Forum] Re: [IMail Forum] IMail 2006.2 Technical Preview Program Looking forward to the new version. I couldn't get to the release notes (broken link), but here are some improvements that I hope will be included: Security: - Locking of accounts after x number of failed logins (IMAP, POP3, SMTP) within a certain timeframe (with lock expiration) - This is really essential in my opinion and it was a feature in Imail 8.x so I recall do not understand why it was dropped in 2006. Webmail: - One line text input for the "To..." field in the webmail instead of a multi-line text area, so that webmail users can use their browser's auto-fill function to recall frequently emailed contacts (multi-line is ok for cc and bcc fields) - Let the user select to only show images (especially external url images) as a global preference and/or per message. - Search per folder (unless I missed it I think the current webmail version only allows searching of all folders) - Check boxes to select message(s) in message list views (so a single message can be selected without opening it even if the preview pane is visible) Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: "Jason Benton" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent 11/27/2006 4:07:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [IMail Forum] IMail 2006.2 Technical Preview Program You are invited to participate in the IMail 2006.2 Technical Preview Program!
