He who? Your term "low processor cycle hit" sounds like you are saying it
had a minor impact on CPU performance. But then you mention you "don't want
to risk swamping our mail server" so it seems you are worried about the
performance impact. One of the advantages of ASSP and any recipient
validating gateway is that emails to invalid recipients are simply rejected
at the connection with very little CPU. This tends to actually reduce the
load on the CPU overall. Another feature that is very helpful is
greylisting or delaying(ASSP) the email from new, unknown to your gateway,
IP's attempting an SMTP connection. This makes almost all virus laden
emails disappear and blocks a crapload of spam too. (1 crapload = 0.1
shitloads or 0.1-0.4 tons of bovine excrement)

Um, yeah. Well written perhaps, but then Imail is still handling the brunt
of all the email. Your CPU usage may well go up from this.

Follow the links I sent in my other email. Join the ASSP mailing list.
Lots of info for you to absorb. The main advantage of ASSP over other
solutions I have found is, being free, you can have it installed and
operational tonight if you are familiar with SMTP and Perl. A bit of a
learning curve is there if you are not.

Good luck,
