Yes, they will be on the same IMail server. So similar to adding 
domain.com as an alias for mail.domain.com, I can simply add 
oldmail.domain.com as an additional alias?

I assume I would then have to change the MX record of 
oldmail.domain.com to point to mail.domain.com, correct?
