I have a few users that I just setup an additional account and have the main
account forward a copy to it for the "Smartphone" to use.

Yeah, IMAP is some time a little buggy. But this was the only option to
make sure people get their messages over weekends and Holidays. Some people
leaves there computer running with automatic get mail running every 15
minutes. Over the weekend, one could miss important emails that would be
deleted from the server by the desktop using POP.

My 2 cents ;)

We POP for both client and Smart Phones(Sony Ericson, IPhone) and leave a
copy on the server from the phone...desktop doesn't leave a copy.

For our blackberrys we simply use the provided email address
(@rogers.blackberry.net) and forward from IMail to that address. Within the
blackberry account you can change the sent from to reflect your corporate
email address so people receiving the message are none the wiser.

As for IMAP, we find IMAP to be slow and buggy..but we are using it on
accounts that maintain thousands of emails in the IMAP folders, so that's
probably why!
