ok, that is as Daniel confirmed, one doesn't see the ETRN command in the 
standard log, the "directed delivery" is the magik jargon that apparently 
means ETRN was received.

Turn on SMTP debugging, repeat the test, and you will then see "ETRN 
server01.com" in the log.
