I believe I've encountered a similar problem with SQL 7 using the standard
DLL and reporrted the details in another message just posted to the list.

Yes, we've got IMail 5.09 to work off SQL 7. It's the same configuration as
6.5, so if you have that working, 7 is no different. However, be
forewarned.. IMail officially doesn't support SQL 7, so if you ever have
ANY kind of problem, they will most likely blame it all on the fact you are
using 7.

Case in point:

We currently are using v5.09. There's a problem where sometimes users get
rejected while performing POP3 rejects, but if they immediately try again,
it accepts them.
IMail hasn't been able to figure this out and has blamed it on everything
from using Platypus's odbcuser.dll to us using SQL 7.0. I've flat out
proven them wrong by moving our IMail back to 6.5 with their original
odbcuser.dll.
The problem persisted. Now they are blaming it on some setting in
performance monitor which is within specifications !

Anyways, after putting POP3 logging in debug mode, I found what is likely
the real cause of the problem. It only seems to happen when two users try
to authenticate on POP3 at the same or nearly the same time. It's been
hard to convinence IPSwitch that thread clashing is the cause of the bug.

Can anyone else verify this existence of this your IMail server? It only
seems to happen on ODBC authenticated domains and gets worse as more and
more people POP mail, i.e. during primetime.

Email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you have seen the same problem. Be sure to
include ODBC sourse (SQL 7, Access, etc), IMail version and also CC support
at IPSwitch so they will know it's not just me. Thanks.
