I am evaluating IMail for an education portal that my company is building.
I need to know whether or not I can use the JavaMail API to access and/or
execute certain functions, like customized autoresponses, autologins,
automatic emails that will be generated by other components in the web
application, and finally, the ability to check how many new messages a user
has without the user actually loggin in. (THis last feature is like Yahoo's
MyYahoo page where the user is told they have x-number of new messages, but
will still be forced to log in before reading them. JavaMail has a
getNewMessageCount() method that can do this. It is just a question as to
whether or not IMail is open enough to allow this. I assume that because it
supports all open standards that it can be done, but I cannot find any
documentation verufying this.)
Thanks so much for your help.
